There are few pleasures that come cheaper than eating a good Spanish tortilla, so we present to you, an elegant bar with contemporary décor (subdued lighting, subway tiles, bistro tables, and marble counters) that serves the best tortilla in the world! Okay…maybe just in Madrid, but still. With their melting queso mixed with caramelized onions, all served on a piece of crunchy baguette, Juana La Loca’s tortilla will make you loco for more! 6. La Sanabresa

Dine in luxury inside what was once the Duke of Santo Mauro’s private library, but is now La Biblioteco Restaurant located in the Hotel AC Santo Mauro. The decor and atmosphere is unmistakably royal, with cherry bookshelves, an antique fireplace, and many scholarly tomes still lining the walls. Although Head Chef, Carlos Posadas, has created an exquisite exposition of modern Spanish fare, the highlight is the more than 200 vintage wines available for your purview! Open daily 1–3 PM then 8:30–11 PM.

4. Taberna de Antonio Sanchez

Steep yourself in the history of the Spanish bullfighting ring at the Taberna de Antonio Sanchez. Established in 1830, this historical Top 10 Madrid tavern has a long tradition of catering to the many fans and fighters of the ring—as evidenced by the many paintings and placards adorning the walls. You'll also find a stuffed bull's head or two that date back to the early 20th century. Tradition is reflected in the menu: dishes such as cocido completo and chipirones en su tinta are made from recipes that have gone unchanged since the 19th-century! Open for lunch, Mon-Sat 12–4 PM, Sun 12 PM-4:30 PM, and for dinner, Mon-Sat 8 PM - 12 AM.

3. Restaurante Sobrino de Botín

Much like a fine wine, the Sobrino de Botín has only gotten better over its nearly 300 years of continuous operation, making it the world’s oldest restaurant! How could you pass up a chance to visit the very same restaurant that decades ago was loved by the likes of Ernest Hemingway and painter, Francisco de Goya?! The suckling pig, cochinillo asado, was a favorite of Hemingway. Make sure to book in advance, as this Top 10 Madrid restaurant hasn’t seemed to lose any business over the years! Open daily, 1 PM-4 PM, then 8 PM - 12 AM.
